SCHOOL PROGRAMS

All our programs are designed and delivered by expert practitioners in conjunction with education professionals. Our programs and certifications can be used to satisfy Ontario SHSM requirements (certifications & experiential learning); as a curriculum conection (grade school, college and university); for Staff Professional Development days; or as an add-on for other educational initiatives. We teach health & wellness through many disciplines, some of which include Health, Hospitality & Tourism, Arts & Culture, Business, Environment/Agriculture, Community & Justice, as well as a variety of other sectors. SPECIALIZED CARE: ALTERNATIVE & COMPLIMENTARY HEALTHCARE

Students explore different modalities of alternative care and different diagnostic tools used to help gain insight into their own health status and a wide range of health conditions. Stations allow for hands-on experience... Teachers love it too!..

APPROACHES TO HEALING

Different forms of healing have different histories, use different materials, and aim to help people heal through different mediums. Choose from one or more approaches to healing, as students experience the power of different modalities.  Breathwork, Sound Therapy, Botanicals, and mixed mediums. Customize your workshop.

WRAPPING & TAPING FOR PERFORMANCE & INJURY

Group work allows students to role play as both practitioner and client, while they work their way from head to toe learning common injuries, how to minimize risks, and how to manage these injuries with wrapping and taping techniques. K-tape and regular taping methods included. Sport specific & general sessions available.

ADVANCED TRAINING IN A TECHNIQUE: FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT SCREENS

Students work in groups as they learn how to use 7 functional movement screens to test proper and improper movement, along with joint optimization, flexibility, stability and mobility, their own and some one elses risk patterns...

ADVANCED TRAINING IN A TECHNIQUE: FASCIAL STRETCH THERAPY

Group work allows participants to explore both theory and hands-on practice as they learn how to perform fascial stretch techniques on themselves and others. Benefits include faster recovery times, increased athletic performance, increased range of motion, rehabilitation support and relief of joint and muscle pain.

ART THERAPY

Using imagery, colour and shape, students explore the therapeutic process through creative mediums, while expressing thoughts and feelings that can otherwise be difficult to articulate. A guided session gives students the ability to learn about art therapy as a discipline and explore the power of their own healing and therapeutic process through art.

SOUND THERAPY

Experience the relaxing properties of sound. Sound therapy uses aspects of music to improve physical and emotional health and well-being.  In this experience participants are introduced to some of the beneficial effects of sound, as they participate in a sound bath that uses different musical implements to create healing vibrations around the body and mind. Singing bowls are tuned at strategic frequencies for healing and relaxing different parts of the body and mind. Great for arts & culture and health & wellness programs.  All you need is a room, and we will provide the rest. 

Breathing Meditation

BREATHWORK EXPERIENCE

Are you ready to release stress, anxiety, blockages, repressed emotions, boost your creativity, focus and immune system with the power of your breath? The Elemental Rhythm Breathwork Experience (ERBE) is a process that combines various elements like deep tribal music, 4 different types of breathing techniques, meditation and integration to guide the participant into a deeper state of self-awareness, release and renewal and improve your overall health. A must try experience!

SELF DEFENCE/FITNESS:
KRAV MAGA

Enhance Safety, Awareness & Response with Krav Maga. Learn about de-escalation tactics and situational awareness, while participating in group work that focuses on stress drills,  strikes, escapes from chokes and holds, weapon defense tactics (optional), and more. Options specific for community and justice sectors can also be requested and customized.

SPORTS NUTRITION

Students partake in learning activities that support their understanding of fueling before, during and after training, timing, best strategies for meal planning and grocery shopping, safe sport supplement use, and best nutrition to support injury and healing.

DIETARY CONSIDERATIONS

Vegan and vegetarianism, allergies, lactose intolerance, and gluten intolerance, sugar consumption, low glycemic foods, dairy free, keto, and kosher are just some of the dietary consideratins important to know for those working with food. Learn about each, along with some of the ways you can modify and work with various considerations and restrictions when working with food.

INDIGENOUS & TRADITIONAL FOOD & HEALING SYSTEMS

Bring the world into your classroom, while exploring the vibrant cultures and cuisines from around the globe. Give students a chance to interact with chefs from different places, ask questions they are curious about and expand their window to the global realities of the cultures that surround them. Note: These workshops are mostly done virtually, with the exception of if the chef is in your local area. For an alternative to a virtual workshop, teachers can request info on our library of resources that document cultures of the world from the ground up.

WILDERNESS SURVIVAL + LEADERSHIP: WILD EDIBLES & MEDICINALS 

Students learn about the inherent value of local resources for food and medicine and explore leadership requirements involved in locating and selecting food and medicine in the wild.  Participants will explore the uses of wild edibles and medicinals for survival. This workshop is half-day and focused on survival skills around local flora, but can be combined with the standard version in a full day event.

WILDERNESS SURVIVAL + LEADERSHIP -  STANDARD

Students will engage in discussion around various survival skills while partaking in activities that transfer these skills into practice. Topics and activities may involve shelter building, traditional fire lighting (fire by friction and the use of bow drills), water (including primitive water filters, purification methods, and or tracking water and springs); what to do if you are lost and  stuck out overnight and more.....

FIRST AID (WILDERNESS, STANDARD & MORE)

Taught by real world emergency responders (i.e. paramedics, nurses, firefighters etc...), realistic scenarios help prepare students for emergencies they may experience in indoor, outdoor and/or remote environments. Wilderness First Aid, Standard first aid, CPR/AED and other options are available.

SPECIES IDENTIFICATION
(W/WILD EDIBLES & MEDICINALS)

Participants stroll through natural areas, learning to identify different types of plants, while exploring their uses for both food and medicine. Learn about parts used, harvesting methods, names, ID. Get a chance to taste, touch and smell. Creative strategies for managing invasive plants through the incorporation into food/agricultural, health, and income generating initiatives will be explored.

ADVANCED TRAINING IN A TECHNIQUE: NATURAL FABRIC PROCESSING

In this two-day workshop, participants manufacture fabric from macerated natural fibres and then design and construct their own 2- or 3-dimensional piece of clothing. Students quickly relate this activity to the current global problem of textile waste, using this experience to identify problems with fibre regeneration, and develop innovative and sustainable ideas which they can bring to the waste management sector.

ADVANCED TRAINING IN A TECHNIQUE: TEXTILE DYEING PROCESSES - A COMPARISON 

Students explore fabric dyeing, while comparing processing techniques using standard chemical, insect, and plant materials.  They build a basic knowledge of the chemistry of fabric dyeing and develop skills through hands-on activities.

ADVANCED TRAINING IN A TECHNIQUE: PLANT BASED TEXTILE DYEING & PROCESSING

Students will take part in textile dyeing using many common plants including goldenrod, bloodroot, onion skins, madder, walnut and turmeric. They will gain an appreciation for the colour potential of common plants and can research their use in cultures throughout history.

Nutritional Cooking

NUTRITION - GENERAL

Good Nutrition is a cornerstone of good living. Our nutrition sessions cover a variety of topics, and can be catered to different audiences based on need. Customized sessions are available upon request. Our partner dieticians have a range of experience and skill sets that can help keep your students on track. Topics covered can include sports nutrition, plant-based eating, mental health nutrition and more. To learn more about session options, please click here. This is for genral classrooms as a curriculum inclusion activity.
