STANDARD FIRST AID, AED CPR LEVEL A, B or C 

This course covers a wide range of first aid and CPR skills through a comprehensive two-day course. This course is appropriate for people who want to be able to knowledgeably respond to emergency situations at home, or at work.  This training includes the current first aid and CPR guidelines, and meets the legislation requirements for provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards.

Certification: 3-year certification in Standard First Aid, CPR Level C, and AED

 

Course Content

Preparing to respond, Legal issues around first aid, The Emergency Medical System (911), Partial, complete and unresponsive choking, Breathing and Circulation emergencies including asthma, allergic reactions, heart attack and stroke, CPR and AED, Care for a wide range of different wounds, Head, neck and spine injuries, Bone, muscle and joint injuries, Sudden Medical Emergencies including mental health emergencies and childbirth, Heat Cramps, Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke, Hypothermia and frostbite, Drowning, Poisons, drug overdose or alcohol poisoning, Bites and stings

Duration: 2 days

Format: Fully In-Person or Blended  (1 day online and 1 day in-person).

Costs: Standard First Aid + CPR(C) + AED - $95.00/pp + tax

           Standard First Aid (No CPR) - $75.00/pp + tax

           CPR (A,B,C) alone - $50.00/pp + tax

HCP FIRST AID

Advanced Training for Health Care Providers

Comprehensive two-day course offering first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for those who need training due to work requirements or who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies at home. Includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines. Meets federal and a variety of provincial/territorial regulations for Standard First Aid.

Certification: 3-year certification in HCP First Aid

Course Content:

Preparing to respond, The EMS system, Check, Call, Care

Airway emergencies, Breathing and circulation emergencies

First aid for respiratory and cardiac arrest, Wound care, Head and spine injuries, Bone, muscle and joint injuries

Sudden medical emergencies, Environmental emergencies

Poisons, Includes any other content required by specific legislation.

Duration: 2 days

Format: Fully In-Person or Blended  (1 day online and 1 day in-person).

          CPR Healthcare Provider (alone) - $70.00 + tax/pp

PSYCHOLOGICAL FIRST AID.jfif

PSYCHOLOGICAL FIRST AID

This certification course teaches the effects of stress, loss, trauma and grief. It has an emphasis on self-care and personal protection, as well as providing care for others. Learners will be introduced to the Red Cross Look, Listen, Link, Live model - a resiliency-building approach to emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing that teaches learners how to support themselves and others to cope with the effects of various types of stress. The course uses primarily case-based learning and includes the latest evidence from the international community.

This course is suitable for all audiences (Youth, Workplace, Professional Responder)

 

Certification:​3-year certification in Psychological First Aid

​Course Content:

Case-based learning and discussion will be tailored to the audience and include the following content: Introduction to Red Cross, Case Studies, Psychological First Aid, Operational Principles, Stress, Distress, Loss and Grief, Trauma, Indicators, Vulnerable Populations, Supportive Communication, Look, Listen, Link, Live, Resiliency and Protective Factors, Protection, Policies, Legislation, Self-Care

45-90 minutes online learning and 7 hours in-class

EMERGENCY FIRST AID

This is a basic one-day course offering lifesaving first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for the workplace or home. Course meets legislation requirements for provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards and includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines. Successful completion of this course provides a 3-year certification in Emergency First Aid, CPR Level C, and AED

WILDERNESS FIRST AID

Basic level of Wilderness & Remote First Aid that covers material in Standard First Aid & CPR, plus special material on techniques for wilderness and remote areas. Course also offers strategies for providing extended care for up to 24 hours. Part of the course is taught in an outdoor setting and requires greater physical activity and endurance than typical first aid training. Suitable for those who work or live in remote locations or who are outdoor recreation enthusiasts.

Certification: 3-year certification in Remote First Aid, CPR Level C, and AED.

Course Content            

Planning,  Your health, Assessment, Airway emergencies, Breathing and circulation emergencies, Cardiac and respiratory arrest (includes CPR-C), Wound care, Head and spine injuries, Bone, muscle and joint injuries, Sudden medical emergencies, Environmental emergencies, Poisons, Extended care, Evacuation: transporting the ill or injured person

Duration:

20 hours (more than 25% of course taught in non-urban setting, if possible 50%)

OUTDOOR FIRST AID - ONLINE

This is a self paced option, which can be given to students to complete independantly, or completed as a group via a teacher led format. 6 hous of online content offers modules that include whiteboard presentations, lectures, and skills videos that are supplemented by resources to support at home practice.
