Our Species Identification workshop will focus on plant identification, as participants stroll through natural areas learning to identify different types of plants and weeds, and looking at their uses for both food and medicine. Learn about parts used, harvesting methods, names, ID. Get a chance to taste, touch and feel. Creative strategies for managing invasive plants through the incorporation into food/agricultural, health, and income generating initiatives will be explored. Training aims to offer learners a new lens through which to look at our environment, while simultaneously creating greater awareness around local plants as resources to enhance health and well-being, nutrition and environmental stewardship. A practical component offers students an opportunity to prepare a culinary or medicinal blend, dependent on season and plants available.
